AeroTech’s Wake Encounter Screening Utility identifies aircraft wake vortex encounters in recorded flight data sets. Applying the Screening Utility to large numbers of datasets in daily operations allows quantification of the frequency of wake encounters in daily operations in all phases of flight.

New air traffic control procedures are being developed and implemented to maximize throughput at the world’s airports. Preventing aircraft from encountering the wakes of aircraft ahead of them requires separation of the aircraft based on set criteria. Applying the Screening Utility to operational flight data allows assessment of the current frequency (and severity) of wake encounters, and also allows the assessment of changes to the frequency and severity of encounters once new procedures are put in place.

The software has been tested against over 50,000 flight data sets.
